Spoon Knife (hollow)
Spoon Knife (hollow)
A hand forged spoon-knife that cuts lightly and leaves a smooth finish across or with the grain. Inside bevel is hollow for ease of sharpening with a no fuss satin finish outside convex grind.
5” long Handle split and carved by draw-knife from Paper Birch or black cherry. Optional Bridle-leather blade cover with machine sewn welt. (made by Cody Nowell)
This knife is minimal and cuts fast with a stiff spine and not much flex. Egg shaped bend tightens to a symmetrical curve and is appropriate for eating and cooking spoons.
Blade approximately 2.5” long x 1/8” thick tapering to 1/16” at the tip - 7.5” including handle. UHB26c3 steel (1.2%C) is forged and ground for high performance. The steel has high hardness but is not brittle and sharpens easily. (Blade in pictures is right handed)
