Crooked Knife

Crooked Knife
Crooked Knives originate amongst the Indigenous peoples of North America. They are used with one hand for dimensional planing and shaping wood - Serving the job of draw-knife, scrub plane, and finishing plane in one. There is enough curve to work over wood that is wider than the blade and the bent tip serves for very shallow hollowing.
The handle is approximately 6.5” long and will accommodate a user’s palm width from 3” - 4 3/4” - Carved with a knife from Paper Birch.
The approximately 3 3/4” long blade is forged from 26c3 steel to a thin edge that has a narrow flat on the bottom with a small secondary bevel on top - Fast cutting geometry ideal for straight grain and softwood, but not the least bit shy of any green or seasoned hardwood. Made in the USA.
Made with respect and admiration for the original indigenous craftspeople and toolmakers who invented it.
